In Canepina, the chestnut isn't just a seasonal product: it's one of the elements that have shaped the town's economy and landscape. The Chestnut Days celebrate this identity over several autumn weekends, with tastings, cellars, cultural events and food-focused gatherings. The municipality describes the chestnut tree and its fruit as a symbol of the town, underlining the historic weight of chestnut farming in the local economy.
Chestnuts and marroni
Chestnut cultivation covers large areas of the Monti Cimini. Canepina is one of the towns most closely tied to this production, and during the event roasted chestnuts, sweets and traditional dishes take centre stage.
Cellars and the old town
During the festival, the centre comes alive with tasting points and events spread throughout. It's also a good time to discover the town's architecture and streets, often overlooked on more typical itineraries.
Autumn in the Cimini
Chestnut Days can be paired with a walk through the woods of Monte Cimino or a visit to Soriano, Vallerano and Vignanello.
