Lake Bolsena is Europe's largest volcanic lake. Capodimonte, Bolsena and Montefiascone — each with its own dedicated page — offer three different ways to take in the lake: from Capodimonte's Farnese fortress to Bolsena's eucharistic miracle, to the view from Montefiascone's Rocca dei Papi.
The islands of Bisentina and Martana
Bisentina Island has seven churches and can be visited by boat. Martana Island is linked to the tragic story of Amalasuntha, daughter of Theodoric, imprisoned and killed there in the 6th century.
